Discover the forest

There is so much to see and do in the forests around Loch Awe.

Take time to explore and you might see some of the larger resident wildlife Red Squirrels, Deer, Eagles, Osprey, and Capercaillie. There are wonderful open glades and woodland where you might find many unusual and fascinating plants and the smaller animals and insects. Impressive views open up round every corner.

A visit to the Barnaline Information Centre will tell you more about the life of the forest.

To help you explore the forests Forest Enterprise have waymarked walks and cycle trails in Inverinan and Inverliever forests or you can just enjoy the views from one of our picnic sites around the loch.

There are 5 walks between Inverinan and Ford. For an easy stroll try the wonderful Dalavich Oakwood use the dedicated leaflet and follow the trail to discover the history and future of this ancient woodland. Stretch your legs a bit more on the Timber Walk and see some of the biggest trees around Loch Awe. For the energetic there is the Loch Avich Walk.
If you want to use two wheels to get round the forest an 8 mile trail takes in the Two Lochs.

If you want to explore a bit deeper, you are welcome to walk freely throughout Forestry Commission Forests. We do ask that you observe warning signs for your safety as these are working forests.

Holidays in the Forest
