Laganbuidhe, Argyll

Enjoy a pleasant stay in a tranquil Victorian cottage full of character and charm. Imagine yourself in a peaceful hideaway in front of a roaring fire in a sitting room with a beamed ceiling & period furniture with a whisky and a good book to rest you from an enjoyable day. Alternatively, you may prefer to soak in the warmth of a cast iron roll top bath dreaming of the sights you have seen and listening to the country sounds outside. Both are possible if you stay in this delightfully peaceful cottage.

Set in its own land, the south facing garden can be a tranquil place and as a working croft there are many animals around such as sheep, dogs, ducks, chickens and even ponies to make your stay extra special. The accommodation comprises of:

Ground Floor
Sitting room with open fire (wood & kindling can be purchased from Mr & Mrs Gray), TV/Video, a large collection of books and even a piano.
Bathroom with original cast iron roll top bath
Kitchen with free standing furniture

Upper floor
3 Bedrooms with coombed ceilings, the third bedroom being accessed from the second bedroom. Each room sleeps 2 people and a baby's cot is also available. The rooms are tastefully furnished and all have views across the hay meadow to Dalmally village and the hills beyond.

Ben Cruachan The area is a haven for hillwalkers with many Munroes within easy striking distance and if you are very lucky golden eagles and other birds of prey can be seen soaring high above the hills. Fishing and pleasure boating is available on nearby Lochawe and for those interested in history - ancient crannogs (loch-dwellings of thousands of years ago) and the ruins of Kilchurn Castle (the ancient Campbell stronghold) can also be seen. Wildlife is never far away either and wild deer and sometimes otters can be seen in the local fields and rivers.

Explore nearby local places such as Glencoe with it's dramatic scenery and learn about the Glencoe Massacre in 1692 and the Jacobite rebellion. At Kilmartin there are many ancient sites with standing stones, burial chambers and cairns as well as a museum and visitor centre. For those who would like to wander further afield, Oban is only 40 minutes away by road and here there are ferries to the islands beyond with more scenery, history, wildlife and with the same good cheer.

Oban And when you just want a good day shopping and sightseeing there are many places nearby for this too. Dalmally has a local hostelry and a grocers shop for your essentials whilst at Tyndrum there are outdoor gear & souvenir shops as well as more places to eat. Oban is nearby and so is Inveraray and they are always good for a day out. They too have many choices of places to eat and shops and at Inveraray you will also find the infamous Inveraray Jail and the Castle (the home of the Duke of Argyll) to visit.
