Portsonachan Village Hall is situated in an idyllic lochside setting, with stunning views across the Loch to Ben Cruachan. With the help of a Lottery Grant and massive fund-raising efforts by the local community, it has recently been completely renovated. The residents of South Lochaweside are justly proud of their achievement.
From being little more than a wooden hut, the Hall has been transformed into a sound, warm, well-lit building, with a modern well-equipped kitchen, new facilities including a shower room with provision for the disabled, new furniture, and a storage area for games and other equipment.
Outside there is plenty of parking-space surrounded by newly-planted gardens which will in time add to the beauty of the immediate area.
The Hall is used for a wide variety of local activities, such as:
The Carpet Bowling Club, which plays each Monday evening throughout the winter months.
Lochside Neighbours - the local women's organisation meets regularly in the Hall.
The annual Children's Christmas party.
The Summer Fair.
Fund-raising dances, barbecues, and ceilidhs.

The Hall is also available for let, at very reasonable rates, as basic overnight accommodation for groups of people. It is an ideal base for outdoor pursuits such as canoeing, fishing, rambling, climbing, or Scouts, Guides, and school "camps". Whilst the kitchen is equipped for self-catering, evening meals are also available throughout the summer at two hotels within easy walking distance.
