Dalmally Fire Station is part of North Command Strathclyde Fire
Brigade. The station was built in April 1998 to hold a new custom built Volunteer Support Unit (Fire Engine) and provide proper storage and training facilities. The Fire Station is manned by Volunteer Firefighters who are mobilised by radio pagers when required to attend fires or Road Traffic Accidents. There are ten volunteers in the unit, all of whom as well as being trained in normal firefighting techniques are trained in wearing breathing apparatus to allow them to enter smoke filled buildings to fight fires and carry out searches for casualties. All members are further trained to use Hydraulic Cutting Equipment to free persons trapped in vehicles after accidents. Four of the volunteers are drivers for the appliance and two are trained in trauma management. Members of F549 Dalmally Volunteer Support Unit, Strathclyde Fire Brigade. Vol. Ldr. D McLaren. Dep.
