Minutes of Council Meeting
held in Dalmally Village Hall
on 24 May 2007 at 7.30pm
Present
Pam Whitehead, Kate Craig, Donald McLaren,
Karl Pipes, Councillor Donald MacDonald, PC Greg Bryce plus 6 members of the
public
1. Welcome
The Secretary stood in as Chair and welcomed everyone
to the AGM.
2. Apologies for Absence
Pam Gibson, Cavin Crawford, Trevor Baney. The Secretary announced that Cavin Crawford
had resigned as a Member due to ill health.
Action – The Secretary to
write to Cavin Crawford thanking him for his contribution to the CC,
particularly his work on Affordable housing in Bridge of Orchy. The Secretary will put in hand a By-election
for the sub area of Bridge of Orchy.
3. Minutes of CC Meeting held on 20 March
2007
The Minutes were approved. (Proposed by Pam Whitehead
and seconded by Karl Pipes).
4. Matters Arising from Previous Meeting
(a) By-election
results and election of Chair – The Secretary announced the
results of the recent By-election:
Portsonachan
– Pam Gibson
Dalmally
– David Fellowes
Pam
Whitehead proposed David Fellowes as the new Chair (seconded by Karl
Pipes). The Secretary handed the Chair
over to David Fellowes.
(b)
Transerv - The
Secretary reported that Neil Brown at A&BC had told her the corner on the
A819 (‘salmon corner’) ‘does not meet the criteria for safety barriers’,
however, the Council would improve the signage, eg installing verge marker
posts to highlight the road alignment.
PC Bryce reported that he had been told there would be a safety barrier
put at the site.
Action – PC Bryce to find
out if a safety barrier is to be installed at the corner.
The Secretary also reported that despite contacting
Transerv six times about the flooding on the road opposite Tower of Glenstrae,
Lochawe, the problem still exists.
Councillor MacDonald said he would talk to Councillor Duncan MacIntyre about
this problem, as he is Chair of the Roads and Transportation Committee for
Argyll & Bute.
Action – Councillor MacDonald to
speak to Councillor MacIntyre about the flooding on the road opposite Tower of
Glenstrae in Lochawe.
(c)
BT broadband problems - The Secretary announced a
representative from BT would be attending the next meeting to explain how
broadband works.
(d)
Eredine noticeboard – Karl Pipes will get a quote for
making a new noticeboard for Eredine. It
was suggested he approach Kelvin Nevison.
Action – Karl Pipes to get a
quote for making a new noticeboard.
5. Chair’s Report
The Chair read out the Annual Report giving the CC’s
activities over the past year.
6. Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer handed out a copy of the audited accounts.
7. Police Report
PC Bryce gave an account of activities in the area since January. He reported the number of road traffic accidents (29), fatals (3), speeding fines (33), thefts (4), drug cases (8). The next large event in the area is the Inveraray Music Festival, which clashes with the Dalmally Agricultural Show (1st September).
8.
Any other Business
(a) The Secretary announced that not only would there
be a representative from BT at the next meeting, but also the Forestry
Commission and Gregor Cameron from West Highland Housing Association would be
attending.
(b) There was a discussion about the level of Loch Awe
being kept too high to the detriment of nesting birds.
Action – The Chair will
investigate.
(c) The Chair suggested the CC write to Allan
MacAskill thanking him for all the work he had done for the CC over the years.
Action – The Chair will
write to Allan MacAskill on behalf of the CC.
(d) Karl Pipes reported that Eredine Bridge had been
repaired.
There being no further business the meeting ended at
8.15pm
