This is a summary of the Community Council’s
activities in 2006/2007
Scottish Water
- The
CC held a public meeting with Scottish Water to discuss the schedule and
plans for the water supply improvement on 3 May 2006. SW replaced the water pipes from
Stronmilchan to Dalmally June/July 2006.
Planning
- The
CC sent a letter of objection to the A&BC Planning Department
regarding the proposed tree thinning opposite the Tight Line Pub in
Lochawe. The planning application
was subsequently approved.
- The
CC sent a letter of objection to the A&BC Planning Department
regarding the proposed houses to be built opposite St Conans Kirk in Lochawe. The objection was due to the suggested
access to the houses being off the accident black spot by the Kirk. The CC also objected to the revised
planning application.
- The
CC agreed not to object to the proposed planning application for a cross
on the hill above Craig Lodge.
Police Reports
- PC
Greg Bryce attended a number of CC meetings and gave an informative report
of the police activity in the area.
Affordable Housing
- The
CC gave their support to the proposed Affordable Housing in Bridge of Orchy by West Highland Housing
Association.
Post Office Closures
- The
CC wrote to Postwatch Scotland in support of all the post offices in the
area of Glenorchy & Innishail
Forestry paths
- The
CC held a public meeting on 22 May 2006 to discuss the proposed public
footpath from Glenview to the old Fever
hospital. The CC also wrote to all
the landowners affected by the proposed path to get their views, and after
much debate it was agreed the CC would not support this project.
- The
CC wrote to the Forestry Commission stating that all future forestry path
discussions should be with the CC.
Eredine Road
and Bridge
- The
Eredine Road
was repaired with the CC contributing £1000 to the cost.

A&BC repaired Eredine
Bridge in April 2007.
Roads
- After
campaigning from the CC, the police and members of the public the speed
limit in Lochawe was reduced to 30mph
- The
CC wrote to Transerv to request the white road markings at the
Dalmally/Inverary junction be repainted, which they subsequently were.
- The
CC wrote to A&BC to request the road by Dalmally Church
be resurfaced. This was completed
summer 2006.
- The
CC has continued to request the 40mph signs be moved eastward past
Dalmally Surgery. This issue is
still not resolved.
- The
CC wrote to Transerv to request the scrub by Rowanbank be cleared. This has been completed.
- The
CC wrote to Transerv requesting an anti-skid surface by St Conans
Kirk. This issue is still not
resolved.
- The
CC requested that Transerv fill in the hole by the bus stop opposite the
police station in Dalmally. This
has been completed but not very satisfactorily.
- The
CC wrote to A&BC to request a barrier at an accident black spot on the
A819. This issue is still not
resolved.
- The
CC wrote to Transerv to request the flooding problem opposite Tower of Glenstrae be sorted out. This issue is still not resolved.
Grant Applications
- The
CC obtained a grant of £180 from A&BC for 50% of the cost of the
trestles for the Dalmally Agricultural Society. The CC paid the other half of the cost.
- The
CC obtained a grant of £195 from A&BC for 50% of the cost of a sound
system for the Dalmally & Lochawe Drama Society. The CC paid the other half of the cost.
- The
CC obtained a grant of £5000 from Grants for All
to repair Lochawe Village Hall.
War Memorial
- A&BC cleared the scrub
around Dalmally War Memorial.
